Investigating Pioneers Who Made Australia is a series of evidence-based investigative biographies of 10 Australians from the past whose actions shaped the Australian nature and identity, helping make the nation what it is today. The series is relevant to aspects of History, English and Civics and Citizenship at various year levels from Years 4-6 and 9-10.
This classroom investigation of Howard Florey provides a structured set of evidence and information that allows students to explore his life, and influence on the development of Australia. It also involves students in the development and exercise of the questioning and researching skills required at this level – finding out by working out.
